First, can we just talk about how August is almost over. The summer everyone was waiting for is speeding along faster than light. Why does winter creep along super slowly and then the time we love is gone in a blink? Doesn’t seem fair.
I used to spend my summers in New Hampshire in a little town. Going to private school in San Francisco our summer vacations started really early… typically the beginning of June. With no snow days to make up for I was out of school much earlier than my east coast friends. Every year, without fail June would be filled with wrapping up the school year and readjusting to sleeping in and figuring out the new “summer schedule” with the family.
Then… June was perfect! Long days and long nights. Spending hours by the lake. Lunches on the patio. Lazy mornings. Hikes and day trips with my family and friends. I never wanted June to end. But, of course, it always did. July came in blazing. Amazing family vacations that went by way too fast. Before we knew it, we were getting our teacher assignments in the mail along with our school supply lists. Then it was open houses, cramming in forgotten summer reading, and planning our FDOs (first day outfits).
Now that August is nearly over, I still have that “summer slipping through our fingers” feeling. More than that, it actually makes me realize how precious time is. I’ve taken things slower this month, but I’m really ready for September and starting school again.
There’s still a lot I want to do. I’m fortunate enough to have a lot of opportunities happening kind of all at once and while it can be intimidating and overwhelming, I’m so excited to tackle everything head on. Literally every day counts. Life moves fast whether or not you’re making things happen… so wouldn’t it be worth it to take advantage of each and every day?
